Adding a vehicle
You can add one or more vehicles to MileLedger on phone. Each vehicle has a nickname, make, model, and optional year, license plate, and current odometer reading. Adding vehicles lets you associate drives and expenses with a specific vehicle.
Steps
- 1
Open Vehicles
Tap More (the ellipsis tab) and then tap Vehicles to open the vehicle list.
- 2
Tap Add Vehicle
Tap the + button in the top-right corner to open the Add Vehicle sheet.
- 3
Enter vehicle details
Fill in a Nickname (required — e.g., "My Truck" or "2022 Silverado"), Make, Model, Year (optional), License Plate (optional), and Starting Odometer in miles (optional). The nickname is the label shown throughout the app.
- 4
Set as default (optional)
Toggle "Set as default vehicle" if you want new drives to be associated with this vehicle automatically. You can change the default at any time.
- 5
Save
Tap Save. The vehicle appears in your vehicles list and is available to select when logging drives and expenses.
Expected results
- The vehicle appears in the Vehicles list.
- It is available in the vehicle picker when creating or editing a drive.
- It appears as an option in expense forms for vehicle-related categories.
Important notes
- A nickname is required. Make, model, year, license plate, and odometer are optional but recommended for clear record-keeping.
- MileLedger does not use odometer readings in mileage calculations — distance is measured via GPS. The odometer field is for your reference only.
