Frequently asked questions

What is MileLedger?+

MileLedger is a phone app for tracking business mileage and expenses in one place. It captures drives, organizes receipts, categorizes business versus personal activity, and exports clean records you can share with an accountant or keep for tax season.

Who is MileLedger for?+

MileLedger is built for freelancers, independent contractors, self-employed professionals, small businesses, and field teams who drive for work and need dependable records. It also fits rideshare, delivery, construction, real estate, healthcare, and similar roles where miles and receipts add up over the year.

How does automatic mileage tracking work?+

With location access enabled, MileLedger can detect drives in the background on phone and log them for you to review. You can also add drives manually or enter past trips. Automatic tracking is convenient, but you stay in control of categorization and final records.

What happens if GPS is incomplete or a drive gets interrupted?+

MileLedger does not invent missing miles. Incomplete sessions are flagged for review so you can confirm, edit, or discard them. That keeps reports honest when signal drops, the app is force-quit, or Low Power Mode interrupts tracking.

Can I separate business and personal driving?+

Yes. Every drive can be categorized as business or personal, and you can add notes or purpose while the trip is still fresh. Reports and exports use that categorization so personal miles stay out of business totals.

What is included in Free versus Premium?+

Free includes up to 40 automatic, manual, and past-entry drives per month, business and personal categorization, insights, CSV exports, on-device storage, JSON backup, and cloud sync when you sign in with Google. Expense logging is available on Free up to 10 records (sign-in required to create expenses). Premium removes the drive and expense caps and unlocks PDF and branded reports plus Schedule C and date-range expense exports.

How much does Premium cost, and how do I cancel?+

Premium is $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year through Apple in-app purchase. You can manage, change, or cancel the subscription anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings on phone.

Where is my data stored, and is it private?+

By default, drives, expenses, and receipts stay on your phone. If you sign in with Google, your ledger can sync to your MileLedger cloud account on Free or Premium so it is available across your signed-in devices and the web app. We do not sell personal data or use advertising trackers.

Can I track expenses and receipts too?+

Yes. MileLedger lets you log expenses, attach or capture receipts, organize categories, and review insights such as spend trends and receipt coverage. Mileage and expenses stay connected when you export for work or tax prep.

What can I export?+

Free includes CSV exports for mileage and accountant-friendly reports. Premium unlocks PDF and branded report exports, which are useful when you need a polished packet for reimbursements, bookkeeping, or year-end review.

Does MileLedger give tax advice?+

No. MileLedger helps you keep organized records and estimate mileage value using rates you configure. Reports and per-mile estimates are record-keeping aids only. They are not tax, legal, or accounting advice, and they do not guarantee compliance in any jurisdiction. Confirm filing decisions with a qualified professional.

Can I use MileLedger on the web?+

This website is for product information, industry solutions, and free calculators. Day-to-day tracking, expenses, receipts, and reports run in the MileLedger phone app. Sign in with Google to use the web app with the same account.
