Associating expenses with a vehicle
Expenses in vehicle-related categories — such as Fuel, Parking, Tolls, Charging, Maintenance, Repairs, and Insurance — can be linked to a specific vehicle. This keeps your per-vehicle cost records organised and supports accurate reimbursement tracking.
Steps
- 1
Add or edit an expense
In the Expenses tab, tap + to add a new expense, or tap an existing expense and then Edit.
- 2
Choose a vehicle-related category
Select a category such as Fuel, Parking, Tolls, Charging, Vehicle Maintenance, Repairs, or Insurance. For these categories, the expense editor shows a Vehicle field.
- 3
Select the vehicle
Tap the Vehicle field to open the picker and choose the vehicle this expense belongs to.
- 4
Save
Tap Save. The expense is now associated with the selected vehicle.
Expected results
- The vehicle name appears on the expense detail screen.
- The expense is included in per-vehicle expense views (if available for your version).
Important notes
- Not all expense categories show a Vehicle field. Categories unrelated to vehicle operation (e.g., Software, Lodging) do not prompt for a vehicle.
- Associating an expense with a vehicle does not automatically categorize it as a business expense. Set the categorization field separately.
