Uploading receipt images from your photo library
If you already have a photo of your receipt in your phone Photos library or Files app, you can attach it directly to an expense without re-scanning.
Steps
- 1
Open the expense editor
Create a new expense or tap Edit on an existing one.
- 2
Tap Add Attachment
In the Attachments section, tap "Add Attachment".
- 3
Choose a source
Select "Photo Library" to pick from your phone Photos app, or "Files" to browse PDFs and images saved in iCloud Drive or other file providers.
- 4
Select the image or PDF
Tap the file you want to attach. For multiple images, use the multi-select mode in the Photos picker.
- 5
Review and apply OCR
After attaching the image, MileLedger runs on-device OCR and pre-fills the Merchant and Amount fields if legible values are found. Review these before saving.
- 6
Save
Tap Save. The image is attached to the expense.
Important notes
- Stored formats: JPEG (photos from camera or library) and PDF (document scanner multi-page). Photos are compressed and saved as JPEG on device.
- Up to 12 attachments per expense.
- OCR is applied to uploaded images in the same way as scanned documents, but quality depends on the clarity of the original photo.
