Supported receipt formats
MileLedger accepts JPEG images and PDF documents as receipt attachments. Both single-page and multi-page PDFs are supported.
Supported formats
JPEG (.jpg / .jpeg) — the primary image format. Camera captures and photo library exports are typically JPEG.
PDF (.pdf) — ideal for emailed receipts, e-receipts, or any document with multiple pages.
Photos attached from the library are saved as JPEG for storage and sync. Prefer a clear, well-lit photo of the full receipt.
PNG images are converted to JPEG on import.
Multi-page receipts
If a single receipt spans multiple pages (for example, an itemised hotel folio), scan or attach each page as a separate attachment on the same expense.
Alternatively, if the receipt is a multi-page PDF, attach the full PDF as a single attachment. MileLedger stores all pages and applies OCR to each.
Combining multiple receipts
If you have multiple separate receipts for a single expense (for example, a meal receipt and a separate drinks receipt), attach both as separate attachments on the same expense.
MileLedger sums no amounts automatically in this case — enter the combined total in the Amount field manually.
File size
MileLedger optimises images on import to balance quality and storage. Very large original files are resized while preserving legibility.
For best results, keep individual PDF pages under 20 MB.
