Reviewing scanned receipt information
After a scan, MileLedger pre-fills the Merchant and Amount fields from OCR. You should always review these before saving to ensure accuracy.
Steps
- 1
Check the Merchant field
Verify that the merchant name matches the business printed on the receipt. OCR may read a brand abbreviation, a store number, or a legal entity name instead of the familiar trading name.
- 2
Check the Amount field
Compare the pre-filled amount to the total on your physical receipt. OCR sometimes reads a subtotal, tax line, or card-authorisation amount instead of the true total paid.
- 3
Zoom into the attachment
Tap the receipt thumbnail in the Attachments section to open a full-screen view. Zoom in to cross-reference any figures that look unexpected.
- 4
Review other fields
Confirm the category, date, business/personal categorization, and any breakdown fields (tax, tip, etc.) that you intend to complete manually.
- 5
Proceed to save
Once all values are correct, tap Save.
Important notes
- MileLedger's OCR is a convenience tool — it reduces data entry but does not guarantee accuracy. You are responsible for verifying all extracted data before saving.
- Relying on unreviewed OCR data for tax or reimbursement records may lead to inaccurate filings. Always compare against the original receipt.
