How this tool works

Enter distance, choose miles or kilometers, set MPG and price per gallon, and optionally mark the trip as round-trip. Results update immediately.

Calculation methodology

Gallons = trip miles ÷ MPG. Cost = gallons × price per gallon. Kilometers are converted to miles at 0.621371 for the MPG-based estimate.

Worked example

A 120-mile round trip in a 28 MPG vehicle at $3.65/gal uses about 8.57 gallons and roughly $31.29 in fuel.
